4p German – 11/4/19

Today is the last day of 4p. Hanna and I finished practising everything and I think we are ready to present it in front of Mr Brown. I am a bit nervous about that but I think we will be ok. We got the paper for the test ready and the slideshow is finished. The reflection sheet is also ready as well as the script for the conversation and the slideshow. Hopefully, we do not mess up.

4p German – 10/4/19

Today Hanna and I have finished the script for our presentation like planned. We also learned our conversation in German off by heart which took quite a lot of practice. We don’t have to much to do tomorrow so we will probably just practise everything some more so that we are confident when we present it to Mr Brown. We may even present it to him tomorrow if we think we are ready.

4p German – 9/4/19

Today Hanna and I have finished the script for our conversation, we have started practising it and know about half of it off by heart. We were having a bit of trouble remembering the longer sentences so we learnt them bit by bit which helped a lot. We also started writing down notes for when we present our slideshow. Tomorrow we will be finishing the notes for the slideshow and practising the conversation until we know it off by heart.

4p German – 8/4/19

Today Hanna and I have finished our slideshow and we have started our script for the conversation in German which we will be presenting in front of the class. We also went over whether words because we were not so sure about them but now we are completely on track. Tomorrow we plan on finishing the script for our conversation in German and starting the script of what we will say during our slideshow. Overall we are on schedule.

A handful of blue by Vince Ford – Book review

A handful of blue – by Vince Ford

14-year-old Jeremy is like any other kid. He has a Mum and a Dad, an annoying sister, a crazy best friend and all the other stuff, the only thing that separates him from most kids is the fact that he lives in the coolest place ever… Makorori Station! On one side, just across the road is the beach, and on the other, the sky rests on the hills behind the house. Seriously, the sun can only just slide over the top of them. And if you stand on the very tip of your toes, you can just grab a handful of blue. It’s the most awesome, cool place to live!

But now, that wonderful place seems to be slipping through their fingers. As a cyclone approaches and a drought threatens to tear Jeremy’s family away from their beloved home, everything he does just seems to make matters worse. Can they get out of this mess? Or will forces outside of Jeremy’s control change his life forever?

I think that A handful of blue was a great book, it really pulled me in from the start and I never wanted to put the book down. If I had to rate it I would rate it an 8.5 out of 10 stars. If you like drama and excitement, then this book is for you.

4P – German 8/3/19

Hanna and I are at the end of week 4 and we have learnt words to do with whether such as it is rainy, it is sunny, seasons, etc. We both are not very good at ‘what is the temperature’ or ‘how is the weather’ but we will keep practising until we get it. We also recapped numbers, greetings, goodbyes and family members. Next week we will practice everything we learnt and make our presentation.

4P – German 1/3/19

Hanna and I  have been doing German as our 4P. It is the end of week 3 and we will be telling you what we did today. We used LingoHut to practice family members and then went over all the other words we learned so far. After that, we tested each other on family members and we are both on track. Next time we will start learning words to do with weather like sunshine, wind, cold, snow, etc. Overall we are on schedule.

War Horse

Hi, I’m reading the book called war horse at school at the moment and I’m going to tell you a bit about it. I have not read it all so it might not be that long.

Albert is a boy and one day his father brought a horse back from market while he was drunk. Albert loves the horse and named him Joey, but his father regrets buying him. One day Albert’s father decides to sell Joey to the army for money to help with the farm, without telling Albert. Joey ends up going to war and was trained by an annoying jokey, yet his owner Captain Nicholls is very kind. The first day they go to battle Captain Nicholls led the troop and ended up shot. Now Joey has ended up with a young solider which is kind but does not ride well.

That is how far I’ve gotten at the moment.

If I were in charge of the world

Here’s a poem I did not too long ago called ‘If I were in charge of the world’. I hope you like it.

If I were in charge of the world,

I’d cancel marmite,

Mornings,

Dentist appointments, and also

My siblings.

If I were in charge of the world,

Sharks would have no teeth,

Dogs wouldn’t drown, and

Shelves would be 25 inches lower.

If I were in charge of the world,

You wouldn’t have embarrassment,

You wouldn’t have dishes,

You wouldn’t have bedtimes,

Or “Don’t slam the door!”

You wouldn’t even have doors.

If I were in charge of the world,

A chocolate brownie with sugar sprinkled on the top

Would be a vegetable.

All movies would be PG,

And a person who sometimes forgot to clean their room,

And didn’t know how to use a broom,

Would still be allowed to be

In charge of the world.
